Halloween 08

For the first time, I got into the halloween spirit and carved a pumpkin! I was super excited about it. It's always been something I've wanted to do. So Dom and I headed out to the pumpkin patch and picked the perfect pumpkin to be our experiment. :) Days passed by before we even got to the pumpkin, but that was okay with me. The more days that passed by the more excited and the more eager I was to carved my pumpkin.
Sadly, I used a stencil to carve my pumpkin instead of doing it freehand like my brother suggested, but I was afraid that my pumpkin wouldnt turn out as cool if I had done it freehand. It took me awhile to choose what stencil I wanted to use. In the end I chose to do a group of ghosts and Dom chose to do a face that kind of looked like Chucky. Creepy. I wish I had gotten a picture of what our pumpkin looked like on the night we carved it however we got done carving it so late I just wanted to go to sleep. Anyways here's pictures of what our pumpkins looked like 3 days later all moldy :(

HAPPY BIRTHDAY POPS!

Last Saturday was my dad's birthday and in celebration of him turning
51 we took a trip up to the solvang area for some wine tasting. :) I
have had wine before but never really tasted enough to know about wine
at all. we went to a couple of different winerys and each one got
better and better. I've forgotten the name of the wine I enjoyed the
most but I have learned that I'm a red wine lover :)
After a long day of wine tasting, we headed to firestone brewery for
some beer sampling. curious of the type of beer this brewery had I got
the sampler of their four most popular beers. I liked their double
barrel beer and of course hated their ipa!!
Even time I see my family especially my brother I have noticed that we
are very similar. we have very similar tastes in wine and beer. all in
all, it was a great family spent weekend. :)

ABBY

Today marks the 3 year anniversary or Abby and still it is still hard
to grasp. She was an amazing person. It may sound cliché but she
touched the lives of everyone around her. Most everyone knew who she
was and if they didn't know her there was a good chance that they've
heard or her.
The one thing about her that in still stuck in my head to this day is
her goofy laugh. Abby just about laughed at anything, which is why we
got along so well together. Her smile and laugh could just brighten
your day and literally make all your worries go away.
What was wonderful about her is that everyone had their moments with
her. We all got to share a bond with her that was like no other. I
personally, shared relationship troubles with her. She was always the
person to call at 3 am when you were sad about a boy and she would
answer and talk until you were okay. Her house was always the house
you could go to if your parents weren't happy with you. She was that
girl.
She was that happy go lucky girl that had everything going for her.
The girl that was always down for anything. A bad influence yet the
best influence I ever had. Abby has touched my life and will continue
to play a part in the rest of my life. She is that pot of gold at the
end of the rainbow.

A LONG GOOD DAY

Yesterday was the start of my new job as a physical therapy aide. I
was supposed to start on Monday, however the girl training me called
in sick so I had the day off.
In the beginning I felt like I was just being thrown into the job but
as the day went on I started to get the hang of things. I got to help
set up patients for their e-stim and clean up after the e-stim. I
though that was cool. I'm curious what it feels like. And then I had
to perform other basic duties like answer the telephones, schedule
appointments, and clean up. At the end of the night, I was left more
tired than I am at jolly boy.
I was really exhausted and my feet were hurting. All I wanted to do
was lay down and go to sleep, however I told Dom I would see him and
so I went over. He cooked me dinner :) there were tacos, tostadas, and
enchiladas. Mmmm...it made my day so much better :)

FALL 09

Lately, I have been busy getting ready for classes and settling into
my class schedule. I also spent my last week of summer enjoying it.
But now I'm back in the game.
Recent updates about me. I recently found a job as a physical therapy
aide at a clinic in Kearny Mesa. I was supposed to start on Monday,
however the girl that was supposed to train me called in sick. So I
woke up early on Monday to get my errands done for no reason. But I
spent Monday relaxing one more time before I have to hit the books. :(

LAUNDRY

Today Stephen and I were talking about how easily assumed we are. Low
and behold we went to the laundry mat to do laundry and of course we
were so intrigued by how my comforter looked like in the washer. LOL.

LABTOP

I think my MacBook is slowly dying on me. Every once in awhile the
popup pictured above shows up and then I have to restart my computer
and then when it's rebooted it says that osx leopard has crashed. :
( i've been saving since the beginning of summer to buy a new labtop
and I'm only a couple hundred away which is exciting because if I get
the money before the 17th then I get an iPod touch :) I don't need one
but I can sure sell one on eBay. Should I rush my savings and get the
iPod touch or just wait it out.

HIKING IN RAMONA

Last Thursday I mentioned to a friend of mine I was about to head to
the gym and do some cardio when he suggested that we go on a hike. I'm
a sucker for doing outdoors activities, so I immediately said yes. We
headed all the way out to Ramona, which I learned it's a lot closer
than I thought it was.
The hike was a moderate hike that went for a little over 6 miles round
trip. The temperature was just right seeing as we went in the late
afternoon. The view from the top was a bit dissapointing but then
again there wasn't must to look at on tell drive up there so what was
I expecting. Other than the lack of a view I really enjoyed the hike.
It was a change from the gym. I really should get out more often and
do something besides drinking.

CAR FIXED

Finally my check engine light has been put to sleep for awhile. I
spent a lovely morning up at Temecula getting my cat comverter
changed so it can pass the good ole smog test next month. I'm glad
that I finally got it done. Please no more car problems.

INCAHOOTS

Finally I made it to incahoots on Wednesday night. I am never being DD again when I go there.
The night started out at the Blue Parrott in OB for $10 pitchers of
margaritas, which frankly tasted like water. I tried an Aloha burrito.
It included pineapples and ham. I must admit it turned out quite yummy.
After we headed to Incahoots for $2 you call it and line dancing of
course. The night was filled with shots of Bushnell and failed
attempts of learning line dancing. But atleast I tried. Overall it was
fun until we tried to leave.
Enrique went outside to take a breather and wasn't allowed back in.
Mark decided to disappear and take a cab home. All throughout this my car keys were lost.
The next day, I spent all day with Diego getting AAA to open my car, tow my car to Diego's, and get a new key made. When I tried to pay for my key my card got declined, so I had to call my mom to pay for it. Talk about a day.
All in all I learned to super glue my car keys to my hand and that I can't be DD because all that could go wrong happened.

MOVING

Surprise, Surprise! So this past weekend I went to Las Vegas, which will be covered in another post when I have enough time. While I was in Vegas Stephen was moving into the apartment. He left with quite a present to come home to. It all didn't really sink in until today after catching up on the sleep I was deprived of in Las Vegas.

We both learned that moving is a pain. My brother has always mentioned it to me, but of course I never listened to him. But I must now admit, Austin you were right. Our apartment has become a war zone. You walk into the apartment and that's basically it. There's a small pathway leading to the rooms and that's it.

I left my keys right next to what used to be our front door on the tv stand, and Monday morning it took me 15 minutes to climb across our living room, as pictured to the left, and reach my keys. I really thought I was going to die.
Slowly thing's will be put away. However at this moment, 2 people moving 3 peoples worth of crap is going to take quite awhile with both of us busy with work and school. It's going to be quite the adventure. I will keep you all updated on the status of the apartment. Following are more pictures of the apartment.

MOLLY

I was just informed by my brother that my cockatiel, Molly, passed away last night. It makes me extremely sad. I've had him
ever since I was in middle school. I had another cockatiel with similar colors before Molly until my dad thought if he put her on top
of the cage while he washed it she wouldn't fly away. Low and behold 3 minutes later she did fly away. By then after we got Molly and we were told that it was a girl. Well a couple months into having Molly we noticed that she and our other male bird, Moe, were very territorial with each other. Thus we then learned that Molly was a boy. We just let him keep the name Molly because he responded to it. Molly was a very fiesty bird. He didn't really like being touched unless you were going to feed him, but he gave you lots of attention when you were near him. Whenever I went home and I slept in, if I had woken up then he would sqwuak until I came downstairs and talked to him. He loved it when you let him out of his cage. After Moe passed away he would sometimes fly around looking for Moe. Molly was a good bird that I will miss I just won't feel it until I go home and it's completely quiet in the house in the morning.
Rest in peace Molly bird

CAT LADY

I'm sure I've mentioned to a lot of you atleast once about my crazy
neighbor. She has one cat but feeds the entire neighbor hood so
whenever we come home late there's always atleast 3 cats on our stairs
that dart down those steps once you start walking up those steps.

That's only one of our worries concerning her. She used to have a
crazy boyfriend who was 10 years younger than her. He was very abusive
to her and I've had to call the cops on him twice because of her
screaming help. Not fun. That was until he got jumped over winter
break last year and then never really came back.

But despite all the weird things about her life she is also a very
nice lady. She loves to leave us gifts when she cleans out her
apartment. She's left us crackers before. And the day after her boy
was jumped we found beers outside our front door. Tonight I got light
bulbs. How very nice of her. I'll have to thank her tomorrow.

ICE CREAM SUNDAE

After work Monica and I ventured off to the Cousin Candy Shop to buy some candy, but we ended up at the ice cream shop down the road. I decided to get a sundae and this is what I ended up with.

I definitely ditched the whipped cream and still only ate like 4 bites of my ice cream. The cone wasn't crunchy so I wasn't feeling it at all anymore. Next time i'll stick to one scoop of ice cream in a cone. Time to do laundry and start my book. =]

THUMBS UP

So my mom definitely rocks. She just paid for half of my flight to
Vegas for this weekend. I get to see my friends from home finally
after atleast 6 months. I'm stoked.

SUNDAY NIGHT AT BORDERS

After finding out the name of the book Matt's mom read I immediately looked to see if it was available at my school library. It was checked out til the 8th and there was already one hold on it, so for the past few days I've been contemplating just buying the book. Finally today at work I decided to buy it when I got off work.

I get to borders and to my surprise there's a bunch of people there on a Sunday night at 8:30 I assume it's got something to do with comicon people. As I approach the crowd I notice they are all wearing harry potter clothing and a guy surrounded by the crowd. I take a picture assuming it's some famous guy. I notice a few sporting mugglenet.com stickers. And I look it up finding out it's people from Mugglecast and Pottercast which I believe are podcasts.

Guy from Muggle.net

Anyways I go on walking around the store and I get lost and entrances by the many book covers I pass. Yes, I judge a book by it's cover. I don't read enough to know what style of book I like. Eventually I remember that I already had a book in mind and find the last copy of The Glass Castle by Jeannette Walls. I'll probably start it tomorrow but I can't lie I'm super excited to start and finish the book.

PICTURES FROM STEPHENS BDAY

The night started out at the frat house with his bros. He shotgunned some beers. Took some shots. Basically waited until Midnight to roll around!
Singing their frat song to Stephen.

Stephen & I.

At midnight we proceeded to go to Effins, which is the local dive bar around my school. It's San Diego State tradition to go here at the stroke of midnight when you turn 21. Then your friends just buy you drinks and get you hammered.  I chose to bless Stephen with the shot and killed me on my birthday. I could've went worse but I decided to be nice. Haaha

I got him the 3 Wise Men. This is him saying screw you Lindsey. He had been trying to avoid my shot all night long.

That's basically his reaction to my shot. It consists of Jack Daniels, Jim Bean, and Jose Cuervo. It goes down pretty smoothly, however it kicks you in the end and the taste stays in your mouth forever. Yumm. That was my treat to him.
Update later with picture from Universal in Hillcrest for a fundraiser.

STEPHEN MITCHELL

Happy birthday!! Words cannot express how happy I am that he is
finally 21. I definitely have my partner in crime by my side again. I
helped him celebrate with a 3 wise men shot, which he tried to avoid
all night. Hahaha his face was definitely like mine when I took it.
Will update later with the pictures from last night.

IT'S THAT TIME

After a week and a half of drinking practically everyday it was
definitely time to go back to my normal gym routine. However with a
test this morning at 8 my trip to the gym illprepared.

First of all I forgot my own water bottle. I hate having to walk back
and forth between my workout to get water. It's such a hassle. Plus
I'm not a big fan of the taste of the water at the gym.

Secondly I forgot to put the running podcast on here, which I have
become a big fan of lately because it really does make you run faster.
I've been wanting to try it on a run outdoors. Anyways, due to the
lack of music my motivation was low and my run on the damn treadmill
was cut short.

So all in all, I was quite dissapointed in my workout attempt. Better
luck tomorrow. With all the drinking being done tonight and this
weekend for stephen's birthday and next weekend in vegas. Eek.

GRADES ARE IN!!

So after a long week of waiting for my last grade to come in...it finally has been posted. And I am thoroughly surprised and happy with the grades I received. Let me break it down for you.
ENS 305: B+
Abnormal Psychology: B+
RWS 305: A-
I was basically MIA from the world for those 7 weeks and I was still surprised with what I walked away with. My classes weren't particularly the easiest classes, however they weren't extremely demanding. Just throw work into the mix and my stress level went up the wall. But this is only because I am definitely one of those people that like plans out their day ahead of time in their head. I kind of figure out how long this and that will take and just watching the hours diminish in my head makes me stressed because I know all of my tasks will probably take longer than planned. Also the fact that each day, there's always a curve ball thrown at you that just throws everything off balance and I can't handle that. There just aren't enough hours in the day to do all the things I wanted to do mainly because the reading requirements for each class were out the window. Each teacher swore that all of us students weren't crazy enough to take 3 classes in one summer session. So for 7 weeks I always had a book attached to my hand. But the times have changed. More time for fun, yet not enough time to make it to the beach.

On another note, I would love to mention how much I love my iPhone. Today I was able to register for my classes from the comfort of my own hostess stand at work. I no longer have to rely on other to do it for me if I'm unable to be at the computer. I was really stoked about it today. Aaah technology! You never cease to amaze me. Plus, I discovered ATT wifi at my work. GOLDEN! However, it was kind of lagging when I tried to use it so I relied upon the wonders of the 3G network. The easiness of the iPhone and its accessibility just makes it literally like a labtop in the palm of my hands. I'm not going to lie, when I'm at home and want to go on the internet I will grab my phone before I go on my labtop. A very well spent $300 in my opinion.

And still I'm interested in picking up some reading now that I have more free time. Anyone want to offer up some suggestions? I don't read enough to know what kind of reading I like, so I'm up for anything. Hit me with your best shot.

JOLLY BOY SALOON & RESTAURANT

This is the view of the patio at my work. It's a beautiful patio that I would love to have in my future home. I especially love the vines that are supposed to climb up and over the patio, but no one trains them to.

But it's not the patio that keeps me coming back to work every week. And everyone knows that it's not the uniforms. It's definitely my coworkers that make the environment so enjoyable. What's a day with out the server David telling me that I'm late and making fun of each other. Or without our chefs New York accent talking out the side of his mouth. What about my GM asking me tons of questions about the special of the day? Or Enrique telling the customers we have free water? Or my favorite...getting off work and Adrienne asking where we are going for happy hour that day. It is definitely a really fun place to work at and I get along with everyone. If it weren't for my coworkers and the ambiance they help create at work I wouldn't have stayed so long...plus I get to pick up some Spanish here and there.

The only other real big downfall of the restaurant in my opinion is how touristy the area is especially the location of the restaurant. One day things will be dead the next it could be only a Tuesday and it could be popping all day. Another downfall is that I wish we had more Mexican food. However I have become quite fond of the variety of our menu because it is a really good selling point for groups who have picky eaters. I have yet to try our seafood dishes besides the mahi tacos, but everyone I ask say they love the food. So check out my restaurant sometime. If you can't find anything you like on the menu I'm sure our chef has cooked up something delicious for our special of the day..trust me I sample it every time! Lol..

OLD TOWN SALOON

At the local bar down the street from work enjoying a Stella Artois with Adrienne. I'm rewarding myself from a long week of school and work. The flower guy that comes into our work definitely almost tried to offer us flowers and then recognized us from work. Haha. That's great. Only I would simply get enjoyment out of something so simple.

Update:

Just ran into our managers at O' Hungrys. We definitely didn't plan this one. haha.

SUMMER SCHOOL SESSION 2

Summer is half way gone and I'm still taking classes. the class this session is only at 8 am though I must admit it's harder to make it to class and actually to tend to the homework because school isn't taking as much time in my day as it did first session. However I'm managing my time very well so far. Still no time for the beach though with work right after class...it looks like I'll be spending this summer not tan at all. But its all going to be worth it as seeing this will be my last year at San Diego State University. And then i have a whole year to explore and study for the GRE and apply to grad schools. I'm really scared, but at the same time really excited to see what is in store for me. Although I do miss Matt in my life, at the same time I do realize that I have a whole life ahead of me. I did the best I could do to make him happy. I honestly have no regrets about it because I was all about it, but it just didn't work out. Anyways, I promise a more interesting post next. I just wanted to see if I could add text to this thing while on my phone.

TEST POST
